This beginning class is designed to address basic foundations of drawing, blind contour, gesture and value through still life. If you are intimidated by the drawing process or have just been away from it for a while this is
the perfect opportunity to experience or revisit the process in a small class environment. Take one class or sign up for all three.

Open Studio Class: Watercolor Skyscapes

This class will focus on painting skies, from the basic wash to adding color. Students can receive help with technique or continue working on a previously started project. Students need to provide their own supplies, but can purchase Arches paper at the class.

Open Studio: Experience Printmaking

Experience a printmaking process or continue to work independently on a previously started
printmaking process. Sign up for one class, for both to experience a different printmaking process, or to use as an open studio to continue working on your print.

Class: Handmade Signature Book

Using a single signature method of binding, you will learn to create a book you can use as a journal, sketchbook, photo album, or whatever you like. You'll also receive a take-home goodie bag to keep you creating!

Workshop: Papermaking

Explore the process of papermaking on the front lawn of the Carnegie. You’ll learn techniques for forming sheets of handmade paper that you can try at home with recycled paper, a kitchen blender, and window screen.

Class: Decorative Papers

Decorating papers, what fun! This class will walk you through a variety of work stations and tools that can be easily replicated at home with common everyday materials. Wallpaper paste, acrylic paints, stamp pads, and a wide variety of handmade tools will inspire you to create your own papers for use in book making, greeting cards, wrapping paper to scrap booking.
